FIXING POOL LEAKS ALONG THE FRONT RANGE: DENVER, LONGMONT, & BOULDER, CO

Here at Bond Aquatic Maintenance, we know pool leaks come in many forms and sizes. Anywhere from a slight drip to the large gusher.  Larger plumbing leaks must be addressed immediately so that the system remains circulating and operating properly. This is especially critical during cold weather where freeze damage can occur if water is not circulating and heating.

Suction Side Leaks

The suction side refers to all the plumbing in front of the pool pump impeller, which carries water under suction or vacuum. This is the skimmer and main drain suction pipes, fittings and valves, which terminate in the front of the pump. A leak on the suction side will draw air into the pipes when the pump is on, and leak water out when the pump is off. The most common suction side problem is a shrunken fitting or the threaded PVC fitting that screws into the front of the pump.

Pressure Side Leaks

The pressure side refers to all the plumbing after the pool pump impeller, which carries water under pressure back to the pool. This water circulates through the filter and heater back to the pool returns. A leak on the pressure side will leak water out when the pump is running. The most common pressure side problem is a shrunken fitting or threaded PVC fitting that screws into the back of the pump.

Underground Leaks

Pool pipes that are underground are not typically the root cause of pool leaks, but they can be broken from freeze damage, tree roots, or shifting soils. Replacing underground flex PVC pipe with rigid PVC pipe is a common repair on 30-year-old pools. A pool leak can be very stressful to deal with, so let Bond Aquatic Maintenance take the anxiety out of fixing your leak and getting you back to swimming in no time!
